Today, an RIL spokesperson released a statement to the press, commenting upon the recent allegations of a Telugu news channel. TV5 based its allegations of RILs chief, Mukesh Ambani being involved with the helicopter crash of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy upon the claims of a Russian website.
The Exile, a little known Russian website, claimed that Mukesh Ambani perpetrated the death of the former chief minister as he was obstructing Reliances interests in gas from the KG basin.
The Andhra Police has already filed a suo moto case against the news channel TV5 for instigating violence in the state with such reports. RIL too will be filing a criminal complaint against the channel, stating the allegations were false, malicious, motivated and libelous.
RIL is a law-abiding corporate citizen. We mourned the untimely and tragic death of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy as much as anyone else. However, we cannot and will not let this criminal attempt by TV5 to besmirch our reputation.
RIL has also filed a criminal complaint against the channel in AP. RIL demanded that the central and State Governments initiate an immediate investigation and bring the culprits to justice.
