Dr. Vincent Carrasco will outline for attendees how environmental, behavioral, and biologic data collected, analyzed, and presented via Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) will transform health care. He will also explain how integrating WSNs with existing hospital systems can reduce data entry and how emerging WSN applications -- including monitoring and automatic alerts for clinical refrigeration, infection control, and security -- are benefiting hospitals and improving patient safety.
Dr. Carrasco has more than 25 years of health care experience, including work as an academic educator, research scientist, surgeon and hospital clinic administrator. He has participated in developing medical device and imaging technology, computerized planning tools, hospital software and IT infrastructure, and implementing new patient care delivery systems. In addition to conducting past education sessions for AAMI, Dr. Carrasco has presented at the Society for Health Systems annual conference and to several biomedical engineering associations in North Carolina and Virginia.
