Press Release:

In December, 2009 Canal Plus lost the rights to broadcast one of the largest football events in the world - the Premier League in the Nordic region for the next 3 seasons. The company that bought the rights is called Medge Consulting. This was a bit of shock for all the viewers of Canal Plus, since this channel had managed to offer them the best reception and quality of the picture possible.

Canal Digital, which is one of the largest TV providers in Europe, managed to sign contracts with the TV channels that will broadcast the Premier League. According to Canal Digital, the broadcast will come in HD for both satellite and cable TV subscribers. In Norway, the Premier League will be broadcasted on TV2. This TV channel announced that they will release new channel that will broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, only materials from the Premier League and some added features. For the customers of Canal Digital in Denmark, the Premier League will be broadcasted on Kanal 6 and in Finland on Canal Plus.

Although, Canal Plus did not manage to acquire the rights for broadcasting the Premier League, the company decided to include some other popular sporting events in its schedule. That way, the viewers of that channel will be able to enjoy even more sporting events than usual.

It seems that Canal Digital managed to provide satisfaction to its customers, despite the fact that Canal Plus did not succeeded in buying the rights for the broadcast of the Premier League in Scandinavia.
However, the negotiations between Canal Digital and Viasat for the broadcast of the Premier League in Sweden are still in progress. Both companies claim that they will find solution that will be suitable not only for them, but for their customers.
