Press Release:
A big complaint for those of us who cook with fresh herbs and spices is the tedious work of finely chopping them. Dried herbs and spices do not present this problem because they already come finely minced or chopped.
However, when you are turning out large batches of food for a special occasion, the task of mincing becomes almost overwhelming. In order to get the herbs and spices to the desired size and texture, the use of a knife and cutting board is customary. But you might consider purchasing an herb mill if you are not accomplished at chopping, have trouble holding knives or do not have good, sharp ones at hand in your kitchen.
An herb mill is actually a machine which makes the whole chopping and mincing process a lot easier for cooks. This amazing device is like a grinder. A herb mill is simple to operate. As with a grinder, the ingredients are placed into a container at located at the top of the machine and then the handle is turned to process the material. The handle moves the blades within and pushes the herbs and spices through. Once the ingredients are completed, they drop into a receiving area below.
Other names for this machine include an electric herb mill, spice mill or a herb grinder. You dont even need to crank the handle on the electric mill because it is push button remote and similar in that regard to a blender.
There are many companies which manufacture these herb mills and you will find a wide variety in your favorite home store. Prices will vary among the many different brands available for you to choose from.
When considering a herb mill there are a few things to appraise. First ask, how often will this be used? When you are comparing the different models and various prices, factor in how often you will use the appliance. If the herb mill is not something that will be used in a steady, regular manner, you may want to purchase a less expensive manual crank version.
