Shrek the musical will open at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on 7th June 2011. Presented by Dreamwork Theatricals and Neal Street Productions following its success on Broadway from December 2008 January 2010. The UK cast details are yet to be released but names such as Michael Ball and Amanda Holden have been mentioned as possibilities. The creative team for the United Kingdom production is likely to be the team behind the successful Broadway version. Cheap theatre tickets for this production can be purchased from 1st October 2010.
The storyline is based on the Shrek movie (2001) starring Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy amongst other famous voices. In this production Shrek is accompanied by his faithful friend Donkey on a whirlwind adventure to rescue Princess Fiona and thus reclaim his swamp taken over by fairytale creatures. Old songs such as Im a believer are sung against new songs specially created for this amazing show. It has grown out of his passion and interest in musical theatre in particular although a variety of theatre tickets are available throughout the site. The site is updated weekly in an attempt to make new ticket offers and news readily available to those who share his interest. Additional features are also added regularly such as the new mailing list and the YouTube video channel showing clips from a variety of shows to help customers decide which shows might appeal.
Future developments are likely to include profiles and news of cast including Ruthie Henshall, Lea Salonga, Colm Wilkinson and other musical greats plus links to other websites of interest.
The fourth and final Shrek release Shrek Forever After is showing in cinemas from 2nd July 2010.
